The hard part of living abroad

The hard part of living in a home that is always temporary!

Living abroad has always been my dream since I have lived my entire life outside my hometown. I was born in Saudi Arabia and raised in Qatar owning an Egyptian passport. I had the chance to live in Egypt for only 5 years during my childhood, but they didn't really count! For me, Egypt had always been a place for vacations.

The huge contrast between the 'crazy messy Egypt' and 'calm dull Qatar' leaves me in constant struggle of living here and there. I never thought that I will ever leave Qatar and come back home. Memories of more than eleven years spent with friends and family are all there, thus I always feel my heart is still in Qatar. Qatar was and has always been my home, but three month ago, I realized that I have had a home which has always been temporary!

The hardest part of living abroad is missing the people you love. You never really spend time with them as long as you want to. Six years ago, one of my brothers moved back to Egypt for his bachelor degree in Dentistry; two years later, my twin followed him. This was hard for me as we hardly stay together for two month each year. I do miss them a lot now! We do not spend time together as a family anymore.

For me, moving to Egypt wasn't that easy. Life in Qatar is much quieter and simpler. One doesn't have to do much effort in order to get what they want, which is not the case in Egypt at all. Everything here is just so hard. Although getting back to live in my home country has always been my dream, when I actually had the chance, I realized that my choice was not as easy as I thought it would be.

We have to make our own choices throughout our lives, but at least for now, my heart is both here and there! Going back to where I belong or staying where my heart belongs!!
