Ever since their release in 2013, gamers have been constantly debating about the superiority of each console, the fanboys had biased opinions and this led to confusion about what makes the two console actually different and what exactly makes a console superior for a gamer, this guide will highlight the difference between Sony’s PlayStation 4 and Microsoft’s Xbox one.
Graphical capabilities:

The PlayStation 4 and the Xbox one have the same semi-custom APU, that sports an eight core jaguar CPU. However, they are different in what really matters which is graphical processing power. The Xbox one has the Radeon HD 7790 GPU which is older compared to the PlayStation 4’s newer Radeon 7870 GPU, this allows it to sport 18 compute units compared to the Xbox one’s 12 compute units. To cut it short, the PS4 is simply 50% more powerful, leading games run at a higher resolution of 1080p compared to the lower Xbox resolution of 720p. Not only do games run at a higher resolution but they also run faster as PS4 games run at 60 frames per second while Xbox games run at slow 30 frames per second. Th graphical capabilities of the Xbox one are simply less than those of the PlayStation 4 so the PS4 wins this round.
Games:
Both consoles have used their exclusive games as a major selling point for long time fans of series like halo or uncharted but if you want to really feel the difference in terms of exclusives you should check the following image

As you can see, the PlayStation 4 has more exclusives than the Xbox one. May popular franchises like uncharted, god of war and infamous are all only available on the PlayStation 4, Sony also managed to make the PS4 the main console for call of duty this means that you get downloadable content much faster no the PlayStation 4. The recent cancellation of the promising Xbox exclusive has greatly weakened the list of exclusives for the console allowing the PlayStation 4 to win this round as well.
Online services:
Both consoles offer subscription services the Xbox has Xbox live gold and the PlayStation 4 has ps plus, both services also give you free games every month, and are necessary in order to play online with friends. The titles given by Sony’s PS plus are usually indie games with the exception of some few cases, while Microsoft’s Xbox live gold subscription offers old but high quality games with a large fan base. Ps plus has always been suffering from security issues and poor servers while Xbox live gold is fairly stable in comparison. Both subscriptions cost 60$ per year but Microsoft’s service is simply better as the quality offered is actually worth the price with good quality games and servers so the Xbox can win this round.

Final verdict:
These factors affecting the result of this comparison were only games, online services and graphical capabilities as both consoles are available at the same price of 300$, the Xbox one may indeed have the better online service and experience, but the PS4 more than makes up for that as it has more capable hardware and the largest game library of the two consoles and since both are offered at the same price then the most appropriate choice is the PlayStation 4. In the end it it all goes down to personal preference, but the winner of this article is the PlayStation 4.
